Halloween Party on a Budget

Halloween

is a great holiday to celebrate with your kids, and it’s amazing how much fun you can have without breaking the bank.

Halloween, Día de los Muertos and All Saints Day are celebrated in different ways in countries with different cultural backgrounds – e.g. in some places, families go to cemeteries to visit the tomb of their relatives and light there candles. Cemeteries look amazing on those nights with the beautiful little lights 😊

So even if Halloween is different where you are coming from, getting some decorations and organizing a “party” for the kids around those days can still be fun 🥳

Here are some ways you can celebrate Halloween on a budget!

Get decorations

Halloween decorations can be found at dollar stores or even on Etsy. They are usually cheap, and you can choose to buy more designs, depending on how much money you want to spend. You can also make your own decorations if you have some more time and energy.

We love crafting, and My Daughter is preparing a jack-o-lantern with her Dad every year – she just asked a few days ago if it is already time for that!😊🎃

If the weather doesn’t cooperate with your plans for Halloween, it is still possible to have fun indoors without spending too much money, no worries, I am sharing some hints with you below. 😊

Make games

  • Make a mummy wrap game.
  • Make a pumpkin carving competition.
  • Play “pin the tail” games. Halloween edition can include “pin the spider on the web”, “pin the eyes of the mummy on the head” 😅

Have a costume fashion show

Having a costume fashion show is an easy way to get the kids involved in celebrating Halloween. Ask them to make lists of their favorite costumes, let them dress up, and then vote on who looks best in each category (e.g., princesses vs. superheroes). After all of the votes have been cast, let the kids parade around and do either a dance routine or sing their favorite Halloween song!

Halloween can be a lot of fun even on a low budget with the kids!

If you focus on what really matters, your family’s Halloween will surely be a great success 😉

  • Involve your children in the planning. They will love it, and they will have fun helping you plan all the details of the meals, games, and decorations. Try to tailor the “tasks” to each kid’s field of interest. My Daughter loves crafting and painting, so she would surely apply for being the Decoration Responsible 😁 Elder ones can be involved in cooking, or baking Halloween-themed cookies… you know your kids, let them help in what suits them the best!

  • Don’t forget to have a good time yourself! If you’re hosting a party, make sure that everyone has an opportunity to dress up in their costumes or otherwise enjoy themselves before it gets too late – it’s always nice when people get dressed up for something fun like this! If you’re not hosting anything special, just throw some Halloween decorations around your house (or outside) and take pictures together as family members go from room to room telling spooky stories about ghosts and monsters who live nearby…

Takeaway

Halloween is a fun holiday for the whole family. With just a few supplies and some creative energy, you can have an amazing Halloween party that will be memorable for years to come!
