Last Minute Mother’s Day Gifts From Your Preschoolers
Happy Mother’s Day!
I remember very well the first Mother’s Day as a new Mom… It was amazing to hold my Little One in my arms while also having my own Mother around. Mother’s Day was always an important event for me, but in the last couple of years I truly feel blessed and I really focus on preparing something nice for both of the Grandmas of my Daughter 😊
On which day is Mother’s Day?
Mother’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day to honor mothers and all they do for their children.
I realized that Mother’s Day falls on different dates around the world when I was studying in France as a University student 😊
We started to speak about how we celebrate Mother’s Day in our countries with my international friends. It was so funny when we found out that even though the meaning of the day is the same, we celebrate it on totally different dates!
You can find below a list of some of the different dates and countries, feel free to let me know about your country if you do not find it here!
- Second Sunday of February – Norway
- 8 March (together with International Women’s Day) – Albania, Bulgaria
- Fourth Sunday in Lent (Laetare Sunday), 3 weeks before Easter Sunday – UK, Ireland, Nigeria
- 25 March – Slovenia
- First Sunday of May – Hungary, Romania, Lithuania, Spain, Portugal
- 10 May – Mexico, Guatemala
- Second Sunday of May – Australia, Brazil, Austria, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, New Zeland, Germany, Estonia, Colombia, Italy, Ukraine… and well, I would say the majority of the countries 😁
- 26 May – Poland
- Last Sunday of May – Algeria, Cameroon, Senegal, Sweden
- Last Sunday of May, or the first Sunday of June if the last Sunday of May is Pentecost – France
- Second Sunday of June – Luxembourg
- 12 August – Thailand
- 20 October – Vietnam
- Last Sunday of November – Russia
- 22 December – Indonesia
So now you know for which date you should be ready 😊
If you need some easy (even last-minute) gift ideas that can be done by (or with the support) of your toddlers or preschool kids, check my selection of hints below!
Last-minute Mother’s Day gifts
It doesn’t have to be expensive – this list has lots of great gift ideas you can make on your own at home. When you are ready to make a gift, pick the one that is most appropriate for your Mom’s interests and personality.
If she loves baking, try making homemade cookies or cupcakes with some fresh ingredients from the garden.
If she likes art, try painting together or drawing a picture of her favorite animal.
A bouquet of flowers is always a good choice!
Mother’s Day Gifts From Your Preschoolers
If you are looking for something special that even your preschoolers can prepare, check out the following collection!
1. Mother’s Day Flower Craft Using Nature Walk Treasures
If you have the chance to go for some walks with your Little Ones well before Mother’s Day, collecting some treasures can be useful not only fun 😊
You can use these instructions from Julie’s blog to create a unique gift for the Grandmas this year using nature walk treasures!
2. Easy Tissue Paper Flowers
My Daughter loves crafting. We have basically a whole stationery shop in our home 😅
Kim’s easy Tissue Paper Flowers are fun to prepare and you can use them on other occasions as well or decorate the full house as a surprise for Mom and Grandmas!
3. DIY Grass Head Photo Planter
I remember Grass Heads were so cool when I was a kid!
I found this fun Grass Head Photo Planter on Lisa’s site, and will definitely save it for next year as a gift idea for the “gardening” Grandma!
4. Sunflower Mother’s Day Card
Mother’s Day Cards are still very popular, and really easy to make them – even last minute. Sam also provides a template with the instructions, so you only need some basic stationery and can prepare this card in no time with your toddler or preschooler!
5. Handprint Flower Crafts
Handprint crafts are really sweet! My Daughter is always amazed when I show her some of your handprint pictures. How is that possible that her hands were that small? 😊
I found this Mother’s Day Handprint Flower Craft on One Crazy Mom’s page, it is very easy and nice even with young kids.
6. Crafting a Memory Mailbox for Mom
If you have more time, you can try making a memory mailbox as a Mother’s Day gift too! I would suggest trying it with elder kids based on the hints of Sonja and Jane! You can also think about filling the box with some messages or drawings and adding each year a new one to it!
7. All About My Mom Worksheets
If you like printables – like I do – you might want to try these All About Mom Worksheets from Lauren.
Younger kids can draw their answers to the questions, while elder ones can write you their heart-warming thoughts 😊
I hope you could get some ideas from this post and will have an amazing Mother’s Day this year!
Takeaway
The best way to show your Mom (and any Mom, Grandma, or Auntie you love…) how much you appreciate her is by spending time with her. Whether she loves to go shopping or just sit around and talk, make sure that you take the time to enjoy each other’s company. It’s not always easy to come up with a gift that is meaningful and special.
